LVP vs. Hardwood vs. Tile: Choosing the Right Floor for Your Home

LVP vs. Hardwood vs. Tile: Choosing the Right Floor for Your Home

Choosing a floor comes down to how a room is used, your budget, and the look you want. Here is a simple comparison of the three floors we install most for homeowners across North Dallas.

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP)

  • Best for: kitchens, bathrooms, basements, high-traffic family areas.
  • Why: waterproof, durable, warm, budget-friendly, low maintenance.
  • Tradeoff: not the same feel as real wood, though the look is excellent.

Hardwood

  • Best for: living rooms, bedrooms, formal spaces.
  • Why: timeless, adds real value, can be refinished for decades.
  • Tradeoff: sensitive to moisture, so we avoid it in wet rooms.

Tile

  • Best for: bathrooms, entryways, laundry rooms.
  • Why: the most water and scratch resistant, very durable.
  • Tradeoff: harder and cooler underfoot, grout needs occasional care.

Mix and match

Many homes use LVP or hardwood in the main living areas and tile in the bathrooms. We help you plan a look that flows from room to room.
